GAS TECHNICIAN

 

role and RESPONSABILities

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Gas technician will be responding to various inquires related to instrumentation, power and burner problems on industrial and commercial boilers. The technician will offer various services to the customers related to maintenance, servicing, start-up and adjustment of burners on boilers. The technician will respond to service calls and trouble shooting calls at client’s location. The technician will also ensure that appliances meet the standards for combustion appliances and related equipment.  More specificly, he will have to: 

  • Perform various maintenance and repair work on boilers such as cleaning of the water and fire sides, replacement of water and fire sides, lubrication of the burners and boiler components, burner optimization;
  • Perform limits and combustion testing on boilers;
  • Assure compliance with combustion emission standards for various residual gases;
  • Assure compliance of boiler-related equipment with oil and natural gas standards;
  • Complete commissioning and start-ups of boilers;
  • Conduct customer maintenance and problem-solving visits;
  • Perform trouble-shooting of defective equipment;
  • Replace defective parts on burners or boilers;
  • Provide quality customer service by explaining the nature of problems and the possible solutions;
  • Maintain an orderly and safe work environment.

 

required skills

The person we are looking for will have a profile meeting the following skills :

TECHNICAL SKILLS :

  • Valid TSSA G1 Gas license;
  • 5 years of pertinent experience with boilers and combustion;
  • Gas and Oil Burner experience in industrial/commercial settings;
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license;
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment and troubleshooting electrical components;
  • Reading and understanding of drawings (electrical and mechanical);
  • Mechanical abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Dependable,  reliable and flexible (available for customer calls after hours and on weekends);
